Overview
The National Cancer Registry Ireland needed to replace its legacy Drupal 7 website with a modern CMS while maintaining quality, compliance and stakeholder alignment. emagine provided project management support across the full redevelopment lifecycle, coordinating internal teams and vendor Annertech to help deliver a smooth migration and a more secure, user-friendly digital platform.
The Challenge
- The National Cancer Registry Ireland (NCRI) is responsible for collecting, analysing and reporting data on cancer cases across Ireland. Its website plays an important role in making information accessible to stakeholders, researchers and the wider public.
The existing site was built on Drupal 7, which had reached end-of-life. That created clear security and support risks and made it necessary to move to a modern content management platform.
The challenge was not only technical. NCRI also needed to consolidate content across departments, coordinate closely with its delivery partner Annertech and ensure the redevelopment stayed aligned with quality, compliance and stakeholder expectations.
This meant managing a website migration in a way that protected continuity, reduced delivery risk and supported internal teams through change.
- Drupal 7 platform had reached end-of-life
- Website migration required coordination with vendor Annertech
- Content needed consolidation across departments
- Quality, compliance and data protection had to be maintained throughout
The Solution
emagine provided dedicated project management support across the full lifecycle of NCRI’s website redevelopment. The aim was to create a structured, well-governed delivery process that would support a smooth migration and a stronger long-term digital platform.
Phase 1: Structuring the redevelopment programme
emagine helped establish the project framework for the redevelopment, setting up documentation, governance and reporting to support clear decision-making throughout delivery.
This created a more transparent structure for managing scope, timelines, risks and stakeholder expectations from the outset.
Phase 2: Coordinating stakeholders and delivery partners
A key part of the engagement was coordinating internal stakeholders and working closely with vendor Annertech to keep delivery aligned.
emagine supported content consolidation across departments, maintained communication across the project and helped ensure that priorities, dependencies and responsibilities were clearly understood.
Phase 3: Managing compliance and migration readiness
emagine also helped oversee budget management, risk mitigation and compliance considerations, including data protection requirements.
Through structured planning and transparent reporting, the project stayed aligned with NCRI’s standards while preparing internal teams for the transition to the new platform.
Phase 4: Supporting launch and adoption
Beyond migration delivery, emagine supported NCRI through change management and training to help internal teams adapt to the new CMS and ways of working.
This helped the organisation move to the new platform with stronger confidence and continuity.
